D.O.T. Construction Closure UPDATE – June 30, 2017
Seventh Street at the railroad crossing was reopened on Monday June 26th, following the Wisconsin & Southern Railroad’s rebuilding of the rail crossing that began on Monday June 19th. Their work involved removing and replacing the rails, ties, and ballast from the entire crossing. The replacement also included installing concrete driving panels for the width of the roadway. The block between Wisconsin Street and Ann Street has been opened to local traffic.
On Tuesday June 27th the south side of the Geneva Street and Borg Road intersection was reopened to local traffic following the two week closure to place and cure the concrete roadway pavement. Once all of the work on the south side of the Highway is completed and traffic is shifted over onto the new pavement, a similar closure will take place for the Wright Street (north) side of the intersection sometime in early August.
Work on the western portion of the Highway project, from Alder Avenue to Wisconsin Street, is nearing completion, with asphalt paving scheduled to take place starting Friday July 14th and finishing Tuesday July 18th. Once the paving is complete, the intersections of Seventh and Wisconsin Streets, and Seventh and Ann Streets will be completely closed to all traffic from Wednesday July 19th to Wednesday July 26th, to excavate the asphalt from the crosswalks and install the red colored concrete pavement for those intersection crosswalks. The east-west walks will be worked on first, meaning that north and south traffic on Seventh Street will not be possible until the concrete has cured. Once those crosswalks are opened to traffic, the north-south walks will be worked on which will mean no east and west traffic will be possible until those concrete walks have cured.
