Have you cleaned your sewer lately?
It is not one of those pleasant surprises when you return home to find sewage backing up from your floor drain or fixtures, but it does happen. Even though main blockages can occur, often the problem is associated with your own sewer lateral, the line connecting your home to the sewer main located in or near the street.
Proper maintenance can help eliminate the possibility of a sewer back up. Never flush items such as napkins, clothing, hair, diapers, or excess grease, etc. down your drain; and never use your toilet for a garbage can. Periodic cleaning of the city sewer lines is completed and periodic cleaning of your sewer lateral can also help.
