D.O.T. Construction Closure UPDATE – April 28, 2017

Start/Expected End Date: 5/1/17 – 7/28/17 continuous

The Wisconsin D.O.T. has provided some project updates for the Highway 50 contract.

The Geneva Street & Wright Street/Borg Road Intersection stage change is set to occur starting May 1st (weather permitting)  which will include paving temporary lanes along the north side of Geneva Street and the crossover of the median with asphalt and then moving traffic onto those areas.  The temporary traffic signals at the intersection will remain the same.  Once these traffic changes have taken place, the contractor will begin to construct the new westbound lanes on the south side of Geneva Street from Park Avenue to east of Borg Road.  Work on this second stage is scheduled to extend until July.

Water main replacement (Wisconsin Street to Park Ave) will be continuing and will be moving from the area of the railroad tracks to the intersection of 7th & Geneva Street.   During the day, the work area of the water main will be closed to through traffic.  During the evenings and weekends, when it can be safely allowed, they will have a single lane open in each direction for access to those local businesses.

The D.O.T. does provide for affected businesses that want to provide alternate directional signs for their business, those signs are then attached to the State’s barricades.  All of these signs must have a permit form submitted and approved by the D.O.T. before installation. If there are questions about this sign program, please call the D.O.T. at (262) 548-6763.
