D.O.T. Construction Closure UPDATE – August 4, 2017
Wright Street closing at the north side of Geneva Street
On Monday, August 7, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is scheduled to begin a 4 week closure of Wright Street at WIS 50 (East Geneva Street) in the City of Delavan, Walworth County. The closure is necessary for reconstruction of the WIS 50 and Borg Road/Wright Street Intersection, and replacement of the water main under this portion of the intersection.
The closure affects the north leg (Wright Street) of the intersection. This closure will not impact traffic on WIS 50 traveling east and west through the intersection, nor will it impact the south leg of the intersection (Borg Road).
Access to businesses will be maintained. Motorists wishing to access businesses north of WIS 50 near Wright Street, should take Bauer Parkway to Hobbs Drive (north of the intersection), then connect with Wright Street.
The intersection is anticipated to open to full traffic on Friday, August 25. The schedule of work is weather dependent and subject to change. This activity is related to the WIS 50 project. More information can be found on the project website at: https://projects.511wi.gov/wis50walw/.
Wright Street closing at the rail crossing
On Monday, August 14, the Wisconsin & Southern Railroad Company (WSOR) is scheduled to begin a 5 day closure of Wright Street at the rail crossing located between Ann Street and Wisconsin Street. The closure is necessary for reconstruction of the crossing with new ties, new rail and a concrete crossing surface.
Access to businesses will be maintained. Motorists will be detoured using Wisconsin Street to Harrison Street to Ann Street back to Wright Street.Â Truck traffic may wish to use Hobbs Drive to Hallberg Street to Wisconsin Street then connect with Wright Street.
The intersection is anticipated to open to full traffic on Friday, August 18. The schedule of work is weather dependent and subject to change.
Mound Road construction from Hwy 11 to Hallberg Street
On Thursday, August 3, the City of Delavan began work on the reconstruction of Mound Road from Racine Street (STH 11) to Hallberg Street. This roadway reconstruction will include installing new storm drain piping with curbing, new sewer piping, and repaving of the roadway.
Access to businesses will be maintained, however construction will limit the direction of access.
This roadwork is anticipated to open to full traffic on Thursday, October 12. The schedule of work is weather dependent and subject to change.
