COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE
The City is in the process of completing its 10-year update of the Comprehensive Plan. This document provides a guide for decision makers, establishes a vision, goals, objectives, and policies to pursue, and prioritizes future projects.
A Public Open House for the community was held on Monday, November 16, 2020 from 4:00-6:00 pm. The Plan Commission and Common Council will next meet on December 7, 2020 at 5:30 to Consider Adoption of the Plan.
Brush & Leaf Collection and Compost Site Schedule for 2021
The City has made changes to the following programs:
CURBSIDE BRUSH COLLECTION will now be a weekly pickup from April 1st until October 31st each year.
You will need to contact the City of Delavan Message Center at 262.740.3502 and leave your address for pickup.
Please note that branches must be less than 6” in diameter, a minimum of 4’ in length, but not longer than 12’, and must be stacked neatly at the curb, cut ends toward the street. Branches smaller than 4’ in length, bush cuttings, or items with roots can be brought to the Municipal Operations Center, 490 Richmond Road, weekdays from 7:15am to 3:15pm, except holidays. Saturday hours are available March 20, 2021 through November 13, 2021 from 8:00am to 1:00pm.
LEAF COLLECTION The last day that leaves can be left at the curbside for the leaf collection in the fall is November 29, 2020.
Those leaving leaf piles in the curb after that date will be sent an unsightly debris notice from the Inspection Department for the property owner to remove. Spring leaf collection will be in the month of April.
Leaves must be placed evenly in the street adjacent to the curb and not bagged. Burning of small amounts of dry leaves and dry plant clippings is allowed from March 1st through May 31st, and from September 1st through November 30th. Hours for burning are between 7:00am and 7:00pm. Burning of leaves in City streets is not allowed.
COMPOST SITE (490 Richmond Road) The brush dumpsters will not be available from December 1, 2020 through March 1, 2021.

State Statute 346.33
The operator of a vehicle may not make a U-turn upon a highway ….. mid-block on any street in a business district, ….. or mid-block on any through highway in a residence district, ….. “mid-block” means any part of a street or highway other than an intersection.
