Public Works Plans and Projects for 2020

Laurel Heights Drive Repaving – from the Ray Street and Barnes Street junction to the north – 2020

The existing roadway pavement surface will be ground away, the current watermain will be replaced, and new asphalt paving placed. The roadway curbing will remain. This project will also include repair of storm sewer piping and catchbasins.

Park Place and N. Main Street Reconstruction – 2020

The existing roadway pavement will be removed, new gravel base placed to a 12” thickness, new concrete curbing installed along both roadways, new concrete sidewalks installed on the north side of Park Place, the current watermain on N. Main Street will be replaced, new storm sewer piping will be installed on N. Main Street, and new asphalt paving placed.

Tower Park Updates – 2020/2021

Bids will be taken to shift the current fiberglass circus monuments closer to the water tower, with water fountain features to each side of the tower, and placement of LED lighting on the water tower legs and catwalk.  New wider concrete sidewalks would be installed for larger market events, and updated lighting installed to match the downtown light poles.

Sanitary Sewer Relining Project – 2020

Our Utility will be relining sections of sanitary sewer mains on McDowell Street, Parish Street, Park Place, N. Third Street, and East Washington Street.
Also a manhole in McDowell Street at Fifth Street will be excavated and repaired.

County F Water Main Project – 2021

Our Utility will begin engineering plans to connect the current watermain on Highway 50 to the current watermain on Marsh Road, to allow for increased flows and reliability.
