Weed Notice 2021

Notice is hereby given to each person who owns, occupies or controls land in the City of Delavan, County of Walworth, to destroy all noxious weeds on such property.

Noxious weeds, as defined in Section 8-1-6 and in Section 8-1-8 of the City of Delavan Municipal Code, and Section 66.0407 of the State of Wisconsin Statues, shall include but not be limited to the following:

Cirsium Arvense (Canada Thistle), Ambrosia artemisiifolia (Common Ragweed), Ambrosia trifida (Great Ragweed), Euphoribia esula (Leafy Spurge), Convolvulus arvensis (Creeping Jenny) (Field Bind Weed), Tragopogon dubius (Goat’s Beard), Rhus radicans (Poison Ivy), Cirsium vulgaries (Bull Thistle), Pastinaca sativa (Wild Parsnip), Arctium minus (Burdock), Xanthium strumarium (Cocklebur), Chenopodium album (Common Lambsquarter), Rumex Crispus (Curled Dock), Plantago lancellata (English Plantain), Conium maculatum (Poison Hemlock), and Reynoutria japonica (Japanese Knotweed).

Additional noxious weeds and grasses, as defined in Section 8-1-6 and in Section 8-1-8 of the City of Delavan Municipal Code, shall include but not be limited to the following:

Agrostia alba (Redtop), Dactylis glomerata (Orchard), Setaira (Foxtail), Mock Thistle (Nodding or Roadside Thistle), Canada Thistle, Ragweed, Smartweed (Nettle), Dandelions (over 12 inches in height), Leafy Spurge, and Burdock.

Failure to destroy these weeds will result in the Weed Commissioner causing such weeds to be destroyed and the cost thereof levied as a special tax against the property pursuant to Wisconsin State Statutes 66.0517(3).
